Sixth generation vintner Cyril Mares’ Domaine Mas des Bressades is regarded as one of the finest estates in the Southern Rhone’s rising star region, Costières de Nîmes. His flagship bottling, Les Vignes de Mon Père (the vines of my father) is an homage to his father Roger’s foresight in not just planting new Cabernet vines, but for keeping the now over 70-years-old Cabernet vines that were already there. Cropped in at the equivalent of less than two-and-a-half tons to the acre, this blend of 70-year-old vine Cabernet Sauvignon (70%) and 40-year-old vine Syrah (30%) is aged in 100% new French oak for 12-months, beautifully combining the power of Cabernet Sauvignon with the elegance and structure of Syrah.
